A plate of freshly cooked oatmeal upma can be one of the healthiest breakfast options. Oats are rich in dietary fiber, while vegetables are rich sources of vitamins and minerals. The spices were added to the benefits of this dish the digestive system.
Ingredients:
- Avena – 1 cup
- Mixed vegetables such as carrots, green beans and peas – 2 cups
- Onion-1 medium
- Ginger – 1 small piece
- Green chillies – 3
- Curry leaves and coriander leaves
- Channa Dal – 1 tsp
- Seeds of cumin, 1 teaspoon
- Extra virgin olive oil – 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Mustard – 1 tsp
- Heat a teaspoon of olive oil in kadai.
- Add mustard, jeera and channa dal. When sizzling, add the chopped onion and saute until golden.
- Add the chopped chillies and ginger and saute for 3 minutes.
- Add all the vegetables and sauté briefly. Add water to the vegetables and boil.
- Add salt and oats and mix well.
- Cover with lid and cook until the oats are cooked.
